Merlin Ahrenadel
About Me
Hello, I'm Merlin Ahrenadel, currently an independent game developer seeking professional employment.
I currently hold a BFA in game design from George Mason University and acted as former lead designer of the Game Analysis and Design Interest Group at the same school from Fall 2020 - Spring 2021. I also served as the lead designer for several class projects with team sizes ranging from three to thirty.

I've held a lifelong interest in game design since a young age, creating my own custom content for the games I played even as a child. Where many would attempt to create overpowered fan tributes of their own favorite characters or themselves, I had a preference for replicating the same power level as the official material, developing a strong instinct for game balance. Since then I've continued to create my own fan content for games I've enjoyed in addition to working on my own material.

While I've experienced difficulty in my pursuit of a career in game development early in my adult life, failing my computer science degree at SUNY Potsdam in 2009, I continued to pursue a career in game development undeterred. Once I could afford to resume my education I attended NOVA Woodbridge and later George Mason University to obtain a bachelor's degree in computer game design after learning from my mistakes.

Favorite Game: Into the Breach.
Currently Playing: Horizon Zero Dawn.
